Welcome to the Black and Gold Society

What exactly is the purpose of the Black and Gold Society you're probably asking yourself? Well for starters this is going to be your place to catch a fresh take on some of the action going on in the Pittsburgh sporting world. This will include extensive coverage of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers with more coverage to follow including Pittsburgh Pirates baseball.

Sure I might be a little late to the game to cover the Steelers season thus far, but the playoffs are a pretty good place to start if anywhere. The Steelers are 12-4 sitting in the number 2 seed awaiting who their opponent will be, fighting for that 7th Super Bowl and #3 for #7. The NHL season has just hit it's halfway mark and the Penguins completed the first half 26-12-3 including a 12 game win streak and 25 game point streak by Sid the Kid, is he still considered a kid in his 5th year? After a 25 game streak like that it's tough not to call him the best in the league, if you're to call him anything.

Secondly this will be a place for me to just write about my experiences, game attendance and things like that, a chance to relive some of the things I've experienced throughout this season, along with the occasional off topic blog post,  I'm just one guy looking to get his start. Updates should be often, I'd like to do a Monday - Wednesday- Friday format but it's entirely possible updates could come every day. It's entirely possible you'll see an update for each Penguins game day, starting with Saturday against the Minnesota Wild at 7pm at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Even though it's passed you'll probably hear my take on the 24/7 Penguins vs Capitals coverage by HBO along with some comments on the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field. So again, while I might be a little late to start, it would be great to get off the line firing on all cylinders. Game day analysis and critique coming tomorrow with talks of the NFL playoffs to follow.

On behalf of myself, I thank you for your interest and welcome you to the Black and Gold Society.
