Wild vs Penguins first period review

After the first period was over the Wild were leading 2-0 against the Penguins. The two teams from time to time appear almost identical on the ice, adjustments will need to be made in the intermission meeting. Turnovers are already a factor, Minnesota has given away one, but taken away 2 already from the Penguins. None of the goals resulted from a takeaway yet but they will continue to provide them with scoring opportunities if not addressed.

13:23 Wild goal by Kobasew deflection off an assist from Brunette to Koivu for a shot.
18:06 Wild goal by Havlat wrist shot off assists from Bouchard and Brodziak.

Midway through the first 10 minutes Jordan Staal took a shot to the knee by a Wild player, the contact appeared to be knee to knee contact. Staal was very slow to get up at first but was eventually able to get off the ice and onto the bench. Shortly afterward the Penguins center was back on the ice and into the action. A scary sight to see after Staal has missed 39 games up to this point.

Shots were 10 - 10
Penalty Minutes were 2 - 2
Hits were 11 - 11
Faceoffs were 9 - 11 in favor of Pittsburgh.

Wild vs Penguins 2nd period action coming up soon.
